We were tall
                    once,

     but life brought us down.

We opened new eyes
                         for a new world

          (without lustre)

                         and forgot how to shut them

               So we turn to drink,
                                   or sex,
                                        or drugs;

Our addictions become our only means

               of
     
               blinking.

coughed this up after a late-night talk w/ marlene on the way home after Happy Feet ((rent it)) while we were discussing pride in men. how cockiness is sometimes considered to be attractive was the general theme, i believe.

and yes, i've never been cocky per se, but my senior year in HS she said i kinda was ^^; not asshole-cocky, just sure-of-yourself-cocky. i hope that's what she meant at least : x

but anyway, this came from that ^^
